Working in a Lala company

As per traditional methods, what was the format of getting a job? Create a resume, apply in multiple companies, keep waiting for a call, go through multiple rounds of interviews and voila…you have finally got the job. Process is too long??? But didn’t anyone tell you that this is a standard process in MNCs…yes Multi National Companies….swanky offices across the globe and you have some interesting eye candy firangs in your very own India office too. Some motivation to come to work!

Our parents also feel good…chalo iss nalayak ki padhai pe kharcha kiya tha…ab vasool ho raha hai. By that time, parents have also started imagining that their child will travel the world woh bhi office ke kharche pe, prim & proper dressing, bade logon mein uthna baithna, fancy designation etc etc etc.

But not everyone gets a job in MNCs yaar…wish it was that easy! You know what is easy? If you have your spouse or a really close family member working in a babu…oops a “professional Indian” company. Qualifications, relevant work experience or the number of years you have worked doesn’t matter. What matters is a mind-blowing rapport with your CEO/MD/Chairman/Director and by rapport I mean saying things like “Amazing sir”, “Brilliant idea sir…we should definitely implement it”, Ho jayega sir” etc etc. Then comes the next step about slyly bringing up the topic of how the lockdown has impacted the economy and how his/her spouse has lost their job….blah blah blah.

Arre why fear when Boss is here? Immediately a short discussion is done, HR is briefed to create a brand new profile to fit the esteemed new joinee…of course a big fat salary is decided and that’s it…work done…kal se he/she can join….seriously? Is it so simple? These days even before we hire house help there are multiple steps like an interview, references, police verification and sometimes a 7-day trial period too!!!

But that’s the smartness that professionally run Indian companies have….they don’t need so many steps….arre husband toh yahan hai hi..ab wife bhi aa jayegi toh productivity aur bhi badhegi. Just have to put them in different departments. Easy peezy! Ethics and rules have just been thrown out of the window!!

So if you have a spouse like this and you have lost your job…don’t worry…jugaad ho jayega but if you don’t…..then my friend…keep the hunt on…you will surely need to go through the grind of interviews and calls.
