Challenges of SOBO Vs Suburb Traveller

A typical Mumbaikar goes through the typical struggles of “oh 9.20 ki train pakadni hai” or the little better ones say “let me leave early in the morning to beat the traffic”, while the little pleasures in life are “chal let’s order chicken biryani today” or “today is gonna be a chilled day coz boss is on leave”. Cut to another Mumbaikar…oops a SOBO kid who comes from an affluent business family and has been asked to work with daddy and join his business. Can you imagine what that kid has to go through? Get up early in the morning (8:00 am) and get ready…have fruits, French toast, quinoa, pancake and freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast while instagramming and updating friends about their OOTD. This interesting conversation is disturbed by our good old Raju bhaaya (in that tone) - the driver who comes to say “Baby gaadi ready hai!!”

As baby gets into the car for a drive all the way to work, which by the way is exactly 15 mins (from Napeansea road to Nariman Point), she’s so exhausted that Deepak the office boy comes down to carry the bag, tiffin and other stuff. Since baby is extremely creative (basically has no sense of business or numbers), she obviously thinks she can be involved in how the office looks, where all should the logo come, what kind of lights should be put and of course social media as that’s the coolest thing on this planet right now.

So after fluttering around for a few hours, giving gyaan to people, baby has to leave for an exciting do over high tea at the rooftop for which she has to select her outfit, shoes, accessories etc etc as it needs to match with the natural lighting. Gosh so much stress!!! Parallelly, our routine Mumbaikar is excited as he comes towards the end of the day, contemplating which train to take so that he can comfortably stand without being squashed. That train ride is also utilized to plan the dinner that he has to cook or order and what all he needs to do the next day…such as laundry, maid payment, buy veggies….and so on.

Wonder how it would be if they had to switch places for a day???? Don’t think so. Everything for us has been decided and at the end we will always get what we deserve….so don’t stress too much, don’t overthink….just go with the flow!
