“I’m bored”, “I don’t know what to do”….these are lines we have often said ourselves or heard from others. I have always heard boredom being connected to being useless which results in feeling low. When does boredom strike? Usually when you are alone in your house or at a place where there is no connectivity or no one to talk to. But why is boredom always negative?
I have a completely different take on this. We all love our “Me Time” right? I love it too. Being with my ownself helps me analyze a lot of things, opens up my mind, changes my perspective towards things, improves my productivity and boost my creativity.
You know the best part – it builds my imagination. I love myself and this so called “boredom” makes my mind wander (in a positive way), stimulates me with new ideas, and new situations.
It’s ok to do nothing sometimes…I give my mind some rest from time to time and recharge myself. Boredom can be extremely powerful and quite wonderful.
I truly believe in what the Italians say “il dolce far niente” which means the sweetness of doing nothing. Try it once…you will love it.
